JAPANESE-STYLE B&B

民宿[MINSHUKU]

Japanese-style bed and breakfast lodging. While pensions are full-time, year-round businesses, Minshuku are sideline, seasonal businesses. They are usually family run, offering homemade cuisine and services in a family-like setting. Minshuku are becoming popular among international tourists as a place where they can experience a glimpse of Japanese home life. Bob, a backpacker from Australia, enjoyed a stay at a minshuku. His smiling face can be found in one of many photos of guests posted on the wall beside the reception counter. He misses the minshuku and the warm omotenashi he received from the okami-san (minshuku hostess).
