NATIONAL PARK

国立公園[KOKURITSU KŌEN]

An area managed and protected by the national government for the purpose of conserving the natural fauna and flora, as well as history and culture. Japan has 34 national parks, including natural habitats of endangered animals and coral and other marine life. In addition to getting in touch with nature, being able to experience nature-based food and other cultures and traditions is one of the unique characteristics of Japanese national parks. If you cannot decide where to go and what to see in Japan, I’d recommend including a national park in your itinerary.
