JAPANESE GARDEN

日本庭園[NIHON TEIEN]

In contrast to Western gardens that seek to create artificial beauty with hedges and flowerbeds arranged in symmetry, Japanese gardens are composed of minimally touched plants, rocks, sand, etc., to preserve or recreate their natural state. Japanese gardens attract a lot of international tourists with their sublime beauty. The rock garden of Ryoanji Temple, another World Heritage Site in Kyoto, is especially famous, where visitors gaze at the irregularly arranged rocks as if doing zen meditation.
