RECREATIONAL FISHING

釣り[TSURI]

Recreational fishing is another popular water sport in the island country of Japan. Fishing can be enjoyed in many seashores, rivers, lakes, and artificial fishing ponds. There are tours for novices who want to learn how to fish and eat them fresh on the boat. Because of the very popular film series “Tsuribaka Nisshi (Fishing Freak’s Diary),” in which a company president befriends one of his low-rank employees, fishing is regarded in Japan as a communication tool that breaks down social status barriers. In reality, however, I personally know no one who became friends with their president through fishing.
