KIYOMIZU TEMPLE

清水寺[KIYOMIZU-DERA]

A famous Buddhist temple in Kyoto said to be founded in 798 CE. It is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kiyomizu-dera is always crowded with tourists and best known for its wooden stage that juts out from the main temple building. The 12-meter-tall stage as high as a 4-story building is supported by wooden pillars without use of a single nail. Being scared of heights, Mike was not very excited about visiting Kiyomizu-dera until he actually got there. He was completely blown away by the spectacular scenery spreading out below him. “Wow, I was there in that little town just an hour ago!” “Is that Fushimi Inari with those torii gates?” Needless to say, he took a lot of pictures here.
