THIN NOODLES

そうめん [SŌMEN]

Very thin noodles made of wheat flour eaten extensively in Japan and other Eastern Asian countries. While sōmen, which is sold in a dried form, can be enjoyed any time of year, it is usually served cold with soy-sauce-based dipping sauce and favored as a summer dish. Sōmen makes a perfect gift for summertime when people tend to lose their appetite. Even so, eating sōmen for lunch day after day can get dull. I try different recipes of sōmen so that I don’t have to hear my kids complain.
