TAIYAKI

たい焼き[TAIYAKI]

A pancake-like snack filled with sweet azuki bean paste and shaped like tai (red snapper). Traditionally, tai has been treasured as a luxury fish and eaten mostly on festive occasions. Taiyaki became popular among ordinary people for its reasonable price and good luck. Some say that from which side (head or tail) one starts eating a taiyaki tells their personality. I eat from the tail side and was told that I tend to be cautious before taking an action. Well... bingo!
