SKIING

スキー[SUKĪ]

Skiing is the most familiar winter sport to most Japanese. Several hundred ski slopes are scattered across Japan, some of which are within a two-hour train ride from Tokyo. Some ski resorts in Hokkaido and other regions with highly reputed powder snow attract skiers from all over Japan and abroad. Aiko’s priority in choosing a ski resort is whether or not is has an onsen (hot spring) nearby. For her, nothing beats soaking in onsen after a whole day of skiing.
