BUCKWHEAT NOODLES

蕎麦[SOBA]

Traditional buckwheat noodle dish served cold or hot with or without tempura or other toppings. While their rich flavors and pleasant texture are gaining popularity among international tourists, those who are allergic to buckwheat should not consume soba. When eating soba, it is considered preferable to make a loud slurping sound so that the air can be sucked up along with the noodles to better appreciate its flavor. “Why is it that the Japanese, who are usually shy and reserved, become so bold and brazen when eating soba?” wonders Bob.
