BAR

バー[BĀ]

Bars in Japan used to be considered places for the classy to enjoy authentic whisky and cocktails at the counter. They have since diversified into different niches, such as bars with table seats, specialized in serving saké and shōchu, and with giant TV screens for viewing sports. My senior co-worker advised me to evaluate a bar by ordering a glass of gin and tonic. It is such a simple cocktail that it allows for no deception. I wonder why he looks much more enthusiastic when talking about trivia unrelated to work.
