POLICE BOX

交番[KŌBAN]

A neighborhood police station found in more than 6,260 places across Japan. The koban system was developed in Japan as a mechanism of community policing for preventing crime and has gained worldwide recognition. A koban not only helps in crime investigations but also provides all kinds of support for people who are lost, looking for missing items, etc. If you have lost your wallet or passport, go to the nearest koban for help. Data show that around 60% of lost items get back to their owners in Japan. So, don’t give up. You are more likely than not to find it here.
