焼きそば[YAKISOBA]

Yakisoba is one of Japan’s most popular home-cooked dishes, made by stir-frying Chinese-style noodles with meat and vegetables. It is commonly seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, but there are other versions that use soy sauce, salt, etc. Because of its easy preparation, yakisoba has become a regular item at food stalls during festivals and other events. Recently, there have emerged many local variations of yakisoba as part of regional development initiatives. Ritsu’s routine lunch menu is yakisoba bread, sold at his high school tuck-shop. Basically, it’s carb on top of carb—a horrifying thought to those on diets! To him, yakisoba tastes better when eaten with bread, but he’s not sure why.
