Japan is a mountainous country with 70% of its territory comprised of mountains and hills. A ropeway conveys passengers straight from the foot to the top of a mountain where spectacular views can be appreciated. Many different types of ropeways are operating throughout Japan, including those with a large cabin that can accommodate 100 or more passengers and double-deckers. Taking a ropeway ride through autumn mountains is an annual routine of Mai, an Instagrammer. She loves looking down the slopes covered with brilliant autumn leaves that resemble a fine tapestry. While clicking the camera shutter, she cannot help smiling, thinking how many “likes” she will get for the photos.
